We have a new player in the game, Alex.  He is going to stain the cabinets.  And that is like painting a picture!  First he has to prep all the cabinets, then he has to figure out what the underlying color is in the wood and the variety of tones.  Next he puts a soft color coat down to give a base for the actual color to neutralize the wood tones we don't want to show through, and he has to balance to light sections with the dark ones.  He is an artisit, apparently staining is a multi-layer process!
