Wednesday, September 1st
I can't believe that it is already September! Twelve days and I am back to school, sigh. Steve spoke to the inspector who agreed to let us move the box inside the garage. :o) We also have outlets, both inside and out, and light sockets. It is beginning to look like a garage.
Not only did we have an electrical inspection today, the supreme inspector made the rounds with her assistant.
Rbi did not feel the need for a close inspection of the bonus room, but Amboseli checked everything out.
They started tearing apart the bonus room to put the doors and windows in. Both got primed today. We several problems to contend with out here basically because the room has to be brought up to code. I wanted to just panel the rafters to keep as much head room as possible but the inspector says the dry wall would be too heavy for the structure so we may get a tray ceiling. Also the floor is slanted around 3 inches to one end. It used to be the garage so it was slanted to make sure water ran out rather than just sat there. Great for cars, not so good for bookshelves. Alex is thinking about pouring a slab so that there is a small step up into the room and leveling that.
Tuesday, August 31st
The plan is to have an overhang/porch to create a partially covered outside room in front of the bonus room. Now we have a lovey electrical box in our room... Inspection tomorrow, Steve, our electrician, is going to talk to the inspector about getting rid of this eye sore.
